Docker, the open source Linux containers, is fast becoming an industry standard due to the mindshare it has been receiving in the industry. From developers using Docker for their app dev needs to startups and bigger companies investing resources on the project, it is fast emerging as a standard for application containers. A vibrant ecosystem is developing around the project and I have been mapping it out for my own educational purposes. Since I have a decent collection of projects around docker in the Mindmap, I am sharing it with the public. Check it out as Mindmap here or the image below.
If you know of any other Docker based tool, please add a comment below or let me know @krishnan.
shout out to http://bowery.io 😛
Nice map! Looks like the links, though, have the trailing ‘)’ included and don’t quite work.
Thanks. Fixed it on Mindmap
The “Orchestration” section is missing “SaltStack” which supports Docker since quite some time. See also: http://docs.saltstack.com/ref/states/all/salt.states.dockerio.html
Thanks. I am still evaluating the Saltstack and few other tools. Will update in future.
Updated with info on SaltStack and other configuration management tools
Nice map! Please check your bias and do not leave off the most popular base OS used with Docker, Ubuntu.
There is no bias here. Canonical has not announced any support for Docker even though Docker used LXC exclusively in the past. It doesn’t make sense to add them till Canonical announces support for Docker as a part of Ubuntu
Official packages for Ubuntu are coming as part of Trusty, see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docker
That’s not the official docker package, that’s some desktop tool 🙂
Maybe the proper package is this one instead?

Ansible has Docker support and could be added under the ‘Config Management’ section. (http://docs.ansible.com/docker_module.html)
I wanted to add Ansible. Not sure how I missed. I will add it to the list soon.

Hi Krish, would you post any update on the map with the latest on the subject since last post
